Walmart Heiress Christy Walton Reportedly Promotes Anti-Trump Protest In NYT Full-Page Ad

Christy Walton Funds Full-Page NYT Ad Promoting Anti-Trump Rallies

Walmart heiress Christy Walton paid for a full-page advertisement in a Saturday New York Times (NYT) Sunday Edition promoting “No Kings” protests across the country, according to pictures circulating online.

The No Kings protests will take place Saturday, June 14, to call on Americans to “rise up” in protest of the Trump Administration, according to the group’s website.

“No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance,” the organization stated. “From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.”

Walton’s apparent advertisement included the headline “NO KINGS JUNE 14 MOBILIZE” above an image of the Statue of Liberty, along with a QR code leading to the ‘No Kings’ website.

“We are the people of the United States of America,” the advertisement read, according to photos. “The honor, dignity, and integrity of our country are not for sale.”

Millions are expected to take part in the more than 1,800 protests planned, a spokesperson for the No Kings protest told the Daily Caller.

“We saw the ads Ms. Walton posted independently in newspapers this past weekend,” the spokesperson said. “People from all walks of life support No Kings because our country was founded on the idea that we answer to the people—not to authoritarian overreach or violence. We hope everyone can join us on June 14 in this movement. ”

Walton reportedly placed a similar full-page ad in a March NYT Sunday edition that called on Americans to: “Show up, attend your town halls, be civil,” but did not directly point readers to a rally, according to Bloomberg.

A full-page, full-color ad in the NYT’s Sunday edition can cost up to $1.4 million, according to WebFX.

A source familiar with Walton’s thinking told the Caller the ad is “a personal message from Christy that focuses on encouraging people to engage peacefully and civically in next weekend’s events on June 14th.”

“Her message promotes peaceful dialogue and the sharing of diverse views and voices,” the source stated. “She condemns violence in all forms and continues to emphasize the importance of listening to one another.”

Walton is the widow of John Walton, the second son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, and she received approximately one-sixth of John’s estate when he died in a 2005 plane crash, Forbes reported.

Christy Walton’s net worth is $19.3 billion as of June 10, 2025, according to the outlet.

During the 2020 presidential campaign, she was one of the biggest supporters of the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump organization that funded Democrat and anti-Trump advertisements in battleground states, Forbes noted.

In January 2020, she reportedly donated $20,000 and was the first billionaire to fund the project, Forbes reported.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show that Walton was the last billionaire to continue donating to the group following Biden’s inauguration in 2021, donating $50,000 in May 2021, according to Forbes.

Walton co-hosted a fundraising event in September 2024 for former Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Bloomberg reported.

This weekend’s No Kings march coincides with Flag Day and President Trump’s 79th birthday, which both fall on June 14. (RELATED: Rachel Maddow Claims Anti-ICE Riots Are Part Of ‘Joyful And Sustainable’ Resistance To Trump)

Due to the already-scheduled U.S. Army’s 250th birthday parade in downtown Washington, D.C., No Kings announced it will not host an event in the District.

“On June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday,” a statement on the website read. “A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.”
